Football Academies In Hungary

In Hungary, football is the most popular sport. Founded in 1901, the Hungarian Football Federation is the apex organisation for professional football in Hungary.

The Hungarian national team participated in a number of international competitions, such as the first-ever Olympic football competition (held in Stockholm in 1912), nine World Cups, and two European Championships. Their three gold medals from the 1952, 1964, and 1968 Olympic Games, as well as their runners-up finishes in the 1938 and 1954 World Cups, are their finest accomplishments.

The Mighty Magyars, who defeated England 6–3 at Wembley in 1953, were also the first non-British side to accomplish that feat. A few months later, at Budapest in 1954, they decisively trounced the English 7-1, the biggest loss in the English team’s history.

2. Barça Academy Hungary

Joining FC Barcelona’s global network gives Barca Academy Hungary the chance to make a difference for kids across Asia, America, Africa, and Oceania. After Moscow, Warsaw, and Istanbul, Budapest became the fourth European city to receive an institution.

The brightest students from our programme will also be able to pursue careers on the Iberian Peninsula as members of Barca’s advanced player system.

By giving them a welcoming and familiar environment in which to develop, the Budapest trainings also help Hungary’s numerous gifted athletes—particularly young people who had previously received instruction from other clubs—achieve their full potential.

We firmly believe that Barcelona’s development programme will enable the best young players to fulfil their dreams of playing for the club, the Hungarian national team, and the game of football in general.

3. Budapest Honvéd FC Academy

The best football academy in Hungary and Eastern Europe is the Honvéd-run Hungarian Football Academy. The size of the Academy has grown to accommodate 100 live-in students under the current ownership. Roughly 25% of the boarding kids represent their age group’s national team, while 10% of them are from nearby nations.

The contemporary Academy buildings, which happen to be near the Bozsik stadium—home of Budapest Honvéd FC—house and instruct all of them. The numerous HFA youth teams’ consistent success in youth events is proof positive that the academy produces some of Hungary’s finest young players.

Each year, two or three gifted young men emerge from our programme and prepare to be sold to championship teams that play at a higher level.

4. Sándor Károly Football Academy

Established in 2001, Sándor Károly Football Academy was Hungary’s first young academy specialising in youth development. Since then, we have led the way in youth development by offering instruction and a professional foundation for both on and off the pitch.

Over 100 first-division players and nearly 200 players with professional contracts have come from the programme in the last 20 years to Hungary.

We are the top source for players on the national team because over 50 players who came through our club and academy have signed professional contracts to play in other countries, and over 20 players have made their national team debuts.

2008 saw the pinnacle of our effort to integrate young players into the club’s first team, as the squad won the league with most of its players coming from Sándor Károly Football Academy. The majority of the first team roster currently consists of academy graduates.

7. Football Academy of Szekely Land

The thought of establishing a football academy initially came up in 2011. On September 26, 2013, FK Csíkszereda signed a cooperation agreement with Puskás Akadémia FC, a top division Hungarian club that operates an elite football academy in Hungary and provides professional support to this new academy. In order to expand and enhance the academy’s physical foundation, a brand-new artificial grass football pitch was dedicated at Miercurea Ciuc at the same time.

About 700 children between the ages of 7 and 13 receive daily instruction from the academy, which has its primary training centre and headquarters in Miercurea Ciuc, with sections in Odorheiu Secuiesc, Gheorgheni, Sfântu Gheorghe, and Baraolt. The most gifted among them have the opportunity to enrol in the Miercurea Ciuc training centre starting in ninth grade, which will provide them the chance to play for either FK Csíkszereda or Puskás Akadémia FC in the future.
